Jeffrey Bauer, School Board Member
Jeffrey Bauer comes from a long line of Americans dedicated to public service. He is the grandson of a World War II veteran and the son of a Vietnam veteran. The eldest of five children, Bauer was born while his father Frederick was serving in the United States Air Force.
Bauer has lived in Seminole County for over forty-one years. He is a quintessential example of the education excellence produced by the Seminole County Public School system. He takes great pride in the fact that he can call himself a Sterling Park Eagle, a South Seminole Hurricane, and a Lake Howell Silver Hawk. Bauer continued his education at Seminole Community College (now Seminole State College) in Sanford, Florida. He completed his Associate of Arts degree at SCC before he transferred to Stetson University in Deland, Florida to complete his four-year degree. While at Stetson, Bauer became a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in History. Bauer later applied to, and completed, the Legal Studies Post-graduate Certification program at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He has continued his post-graduate work in political science at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
Bauer began his long career as a public servant by acting as a committeeman for his local voting precinct. He has held this position since 1992. Bauer has also remained active in a number of local and state political organizations since the early 1990s.
Bauer’s devotion to community service and his long time interest in public education has continued in the time he devotes to a number of volunteer positions. He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Seminole County Early Learning Coalition, a post to which he was appointed by the governor. Bauer also proudly serves as a member of the Seminole State College Board of Trustees, the Seminole State College Foundation and the Florida Early Learning Council. He completed the prestigious Leadership Seminole program, graduating as a member of the class of 2002. The Leadership Seminole program’s mission statement says that its main goals are "to provide leadership development and establish stakeholders as equal voices in dialogue, consensus, and action... resulting in community improvement and stewardship in the Seminole County region."
In addition to Bauer’s participation in a number of public education organizations, he has remained active in environmental and local government affairs. He was elected to county-wide office, with 60 percent of the vote, in his 2006 race for District Supervisor for the Seminole County Soil and Water Conservation Board. He also served on the Seminole County Contractors images/bauer.jpg Examiners Board from 2000-2002 and the Seminole County Charter Review Committee from 2011-2012.
Bauer is the eldest son of Frederick and Diane Bauer, the former school board member from District One. It was a position she held for fifteen years until her unexpected death in October 2013. He has worked in the business sector as an insurance professional for over a decade and also owns his own government affairs and political consulting firm. He is an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida.
