Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is committed to providing our students with the best education possible in an effort to fully prepare them for a future of success. We work hand-in-hand with our local legislative delegation here in Seminole County to ensure the needs of our students, families, and teachers are met and that their voices are heard and advocated for.

2017 Legislative Priorities

Simplifying Assessment: "The Sunshine Solution"

In support of Florida’s robust accountability system and in response to educators and parents searching for a proactive solution to excessive testing; SCPS advocates for the “Sunshine Solution.” This solution utilizes assessments that are time-efficient, cost-effective, have value in the postsecondary world, and are trusted by families.

Educating Educators

Educators as leaders is the key to driving student success, SCPS supports a robust professional development system whereby teachers and other educators can take ownership and access high-quality training in new and creative ways such as micro-credentialing.

Budget Priority: Responding to Aeronautic Workforce Demands

Workforce development needs are a reality of the local, state and national economy. SCPS supports preparing students for success in college and careers by meeting local workforce needs in the aviation and aeronautics industries.
