What will your kids do during summer break this year? Reading should be an important part of their summer fun.

The Seminole County Public School System is providing books, prizes, and special events to encourage reading across the district in partnership with The Foundation for Seminole County Schools, Title I, Seminole County Public Schools, and other community sponsors.

Students who continue reading during the summer can help avoid learning losses when they return to school.

There are many ways you can help your student:

Few people have more experience getting kids excited about reading than librarians who staff school and local libraries. So we asked a few to share what summer reading programs really work and what to do to make sure your kid doesn't take a vacation from reading.

Find out how to encourage summer reading at http://www.scholastic.com/resources/article/summer-reading/.

For more summer reading fun try Book Adventure a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8.  Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. A Sylvan reading program, Book Adventure can be found at http://www.Bookadventure.com.
